September Made Me Sleepy…: An overview of the past month, and what’s to come!

Do you ever feel guilty for slowing down? So typed by a very tired artist.

I’m imagining a fifty/fifty response to this question. Probably because I vacillate between answers as well. In conversation with a close friend, I realized the last time I truly took a break from my fast-paced life was during the pandemic… but, as I’m typing that here, it really only inspired me to go full-throttle on other projects, so now I’m not so sure… regardless, the whole world took pause. It wasn’t just me, so maybe I didn’t feel so bad about the days I decided not to work.

Truthfully, I sat here in silence staring at that sentence above. There’s some demon inside of me cackling at the fact I take time off. It’s that bad. And I know I’m not alone in this. And now, especially today as I’m writing, I feel so… so exhausted. I’d much rather be in bed.

Don’t worry, I’m going to finish writing this first. I am very purposely typing outside of my apartment so the bed doesn’t beckon me with it’s sweet, sweet songs of sleepy-time.

I mean, we HAVE been doing a lot! In the midst of personal life changes, weird news and good news, car crashes and schedule changes… Adam and I are still continuously releasing two professionally shot and produced galleries, a new song and music video, and two wickedly engaging blog posts every freakin’ monthc’mon you guys seriously, nap-time is a religious and spiritual act that we try to participate in daily!

That being said, we are unguilt-ily slowing down for the next few months. But that doesn’t mean you’re not going to get some amazing new content (thanks Summit, COO, overbooking my mom’s b-day month with projects out the wazoo). Because, while we’ve been all “maaaaaan, the man is non-STOP” we’ve also learned a lot in the process. Yes, that was a Hamilton reference about five years late. Let’s just move on.

We are currently not taking on any new clients, but! We are releasing new galleries with models we’ve worked with in the past with brand new, and might I say, very BOLD concepts. Just a few days ago, we released “Femme Fatale” starring Ash Davis. With her abundance of weapons, a mixed taste of steampunky-pirate-boudoir, and background music supplied by various sea-shanties — we were able to capture an intimidatingly sexy version of Ash the internet is simply not ready for! Check it out on Patreon today! Ash first worked with us on “Boudoir Cabin” (remember, I did this awesome interview with her!) and she was recently featured in the music video “Domino” by FOX + RAM (which you can view here for $1.00!!!).

Further down the pike, we have a new gallery — currently nameless — featuring the one and only Nicholas Wilson. Nick, who? HOW DARE YOU. Nick has not only starred in photoshoots such as, “After The Show”, “Umbrella Academy”, and “Polaroid Pinup” but was also my counterpart in the music video “Memorize” by FOX + RAM. Additionally, he has choreographed for the music videos “River” and “Domino”, and has been an overall supporter of all of our artistic endeavors from day 1. We wouldn’t be where we are without him. His newest gallery (whatever we end up calling it) will be released on November 10th!

Thanks to an old friend of mine across the pond, Adam and I did a collaboration with Midnight Hour: an affordable alternative clothing company to satisfy that goth punk aesthetic! I chose my favorite harnesses from the website (not an easy decision — so many incredible & sexy options!), got my nails did, and turned the hallway of our studio apartment into a fashion catwalk. And, I suppose, it’s a sexy casual reminder to please wear your damn mask — I work in live theatre, I can’t have all of you breathing on each other and dying, thanks. You know where to find this baddass gallery!

“Midnight Hour” starring… well, me. That’s me.

What else have we been doing? You want MORE? Okay, here’s more. Adam and I were hired to shoot images and videos of other local Columbus artists to assist in their projects. At the beginning of September, we teamed up with singer/songwriter Christina Ward. She is currently gearing up to release her first album “All of What I Have”, and asked us to produce photos that exemplified each song on her album. After an in-person meeting and a long interactive Google Doc, we put together a loose shot list and were able to supply Christina with a multitude of choices for her release. It was an incredible experience and I hope to work with her again soon! Catch the previews of her sound and purchase her album on 10/18/21 through Amazon! Follow her on IG for updates!

Later in September, Adam traveled with Gabriel Guyer for some documentary-style shooting in Ferndale, Michigan for the Funky Ferndale Art Fair! Gabriel wanted to provide his patrons and followers an insider look on what it’s like to be an artist traveling regionally & showcasing in these festivals. Adam was able to take video and BTS pictures of Gabriel’s process, including an interview where he addresses some FAQs. My contribution will be making IG Reels phone edits for social media purposes! I had so much fun doing it for our photoshoot galleries, and now I’m excited to provide these services for a client. Follow Gabriel Guyer on Instagram now, visit his website, and consider subscribing to his Patreon to experience and support this incredible artist!

And finally… music music music! Yes, as promised, you will hear a NEW tune coming soon (10/5/21)! Followers of IG @fox_and_ram have already seen some BTS video — head over and see how delightfully awkward I am when singing in a mic! This song is still in the works, but I can tell you it’s one of those pretty sounding musings about dark material, which is a delightful sweet spot in Adam and me’s musical creations. I’m very excited to share it with you all shortly!

AND THAT’S IT. Why do I feel like I’m missing something…

Oh well. Nap first. Good night. :)
