You know us. We can’t stick to one specialty. Why would we when we are so multifaceted in our artistry? Just from my blog, I vary between narrative writing, to prose, to poetry. If you listen to our music, we graze nearly all genres. Our photography is just as eclectic.

I thought it would be fun to highlight a bullet point from my last blog’s overview of RockDaddyDesign’s 2021 where I listed out the different categories our galleries fall under. Whether you’re a prospective client or simply curious, I broke down each theme with a few examples! Here we go!

Lights, camera… FASHION. ✨

Nicholas Wilson — “Odd World”
Meghan Carpenter — “Boho”

It’s no secret that Columbus, OH is an up-and-coming fashion icon in the US. With various small business boutiques, to local high fashion runways — and frankly, a quick look at my friends on Instagram will give you a window into the vast creativity this city has offer. I am ALWAYS excited when people come to us with a clear vision of their wardrobe for a fashion photoshoot: one, because they look fabulous without fail, and two, I am personally fashion blind and would wear sweatpants and a sports bra every day if I could get away with it…

Thankfully, Nicholas Wilson and Meghan Carpenter perpetually come thru with the gorgeous ‘fits.

BOUDOIR, oo là là! 👙

Summit J Starr, Ash Davis, Meghan Carpenter, Willow Richison with LINGIAMOUR — “Boudoir Cabin”
Summit J Starr with MIDNIGHT HOUR — “Midnight Hour”

Beyond the obvious appealing nature of scantily clad themes, I have a particular fondness of our boudoir photography because we have teamed up with small businesses to collaborate! Our famous Boudoir Cabin photoshoot featured a wide variety of products by Lingiamour, and I personally featured a harness set by Midnight Hour in 2021. This style of photoshoot in my experience can be a little nerve-wracking, but the empowerment I have felt and I’ve heard other clients talk about is paramount. (In fact, you can read the interview I did with Ash Davis about this very phenomenon here!)

Calling all COSPLAYERS! 🎭

Summit J Starr and Nicholas Wilson — “Umbrella Academy”
Abigail Murray — “Pop Princess”

I have MAD respect for cosplayers. The detail these creators put into their clothing, wigs, makeup — and then the physical attitude to bring them to life! From anime, to video games, to tv & movies… that’s what you would typically see. We’ve expanded our definition of cosplay photoshoots to include any iconic look in pop culture. One of the most elaborate projects in this realm was Abigail Murray’s Pop Princess photoshoot — you can read all about it here!

Now if we’re talkin’ BODY… 🍑

Meghan Carpenter and Summit J Starr — “The Shower”
Summit J Starr — “Hocking Hills”

Maybe it’s the theatre background, but I’m very comfortable being clothe-less around my friends and strangers. In fact, I love to joke that if you haven’t seen me naked at least once… do you even know me at all? Nude and bodyscape photoshoots are an intimate experience in which we take serious, professional measures to ensure the comfortability of the client and all involved with the shoot. Bodies, of all sorts, exhibit beauteous organic energy that is uniquely incomparable.

“One touch of NATURE makes the whole world kin.” 🌸

“The Wilds”
“Franklin Park Conservatory”

From macro shots to landscapes, Adam has a keen eye for nature and wildlife photography. For the better part of 2021, one of the two galleries he released featured a gallery in this category. Playfully, we have been saying there’s a “human” and “non-human” gallery per month! I would be remiss without reminding you all that Adam’s handpicked favorites are available for purchase at Picfair.com. Lemme see you zhuzh up those basic lookin’ walls! :)

EXTRAY EXTRAY — Read all about it! 📰

Gabriel Guyer at Funky Ferndale Art Fair
Brent Lee at The Summit Music Hall

Adam talks about how some of his favorite shots from a photoshoot are the “in-between” moments; as a viewer, you can sense a genuineness from the subject rather than being too posed. There’s a similarity when that’s the strict focus of a photoshoot: the trick to event photography is capturing a moment that portrays what it would be like to be there as it is happening. Note: prospective clients interested in this style of photography, please consider if your venue will have proper lighting. Not that this has been an issue, or anything… ;)

Say cheeeeeeese! 🧀

Cassi Ebright and Jacob Earley
The Starr Family (and Spinny the Cat)

More often than not, when I talk about our photography to someone who’s never heard of us before, the first question I get is, “Oh! Do you guys do weddings and graduation photos?” Nnnnno, no we typically do not. It is quite rare that you will see an engagement ring or lil baby in any of our photos. However, unique, creative concepts for couple photos are absolutely in our repertoire! And we’re happy to assist artists in our personal creative community with classic family photos.

“God I hope I get it!” 🎬

Matt McTeague
Nicholas Wilson

Can I just say right out the gate that headshots are expensive? For what, like two that you’re only maybe-kind-of-sort-of into? I can guarantee you we are offering a stellar price for headshots — whether for corporate or performer needs — that are incomparable to other prices you’ll find here in Columbus. DM Adam or myself today to take advantage of this opportunity! (I’m a sucker for a snowy background anyway…)

All in all… we are CLIENT-DRIVEN!

Christina Ward
Ash Davis

Collaboration is the root of our methodology in our photoshoots. My ultimate favorite thing is when someone reaches out to us and says… “hey, can we do this [insert totally unique idea here] for a photoshoot?” Adam and I hardly ever say no! Our philosophy of doing client-driven photoshoots is what keeps us consistently invigorated to get out and create. Thank you to all of our insanely creative models and clients!
